In Suffolk, East Anglia, Codie Hutton experienced deep sorrow as the prospect of losing her beloved Springer Spaniel, Maisie, became a harsh reality. Their unbreakable bond, nurtured over nine years, seemed to crumble on a chilly November day.

While on a road trip with her father, they made a stop to stretch their legs and allow Maisie a brief walk. Codie was about to attach the leash when a sudden explosion of fireworks startled Maisie, causing her to flee in fear. “She just bolted. Right out of the car,” Codie shared during an interview with the East Anglian Daily Times.

Codie made desperate efforts to locate Maisie and waited patiently, but her beloved companion remained elusive. The situation took a devastating turn when a witness reported that Maisie had been involved in a car accident not far from where she went missing. Codie and her father scoured the area, desperately searching for any trace of Maisie, yet their efforts yielded no results.

Things got worse when they received a call about the mangled body of a deceased dog bearing a strong resemblance to Maisie. Although there was no microchip found, Codie was convinced it was her beloved dog due to the similar leg markings. They mournfully buried the animal in their backyard, with Codie explaining to her 3-year-old son that Maisie had become a star in doggy heaven.
The family seemed to be trapped on an emotional rollercoaster when they received another call days later about a dog resembling Maisie spotted just a few miles away.
Hesitant yet hopeful, Codie drove to the location and couldn’t believe her eyes when she found Maisie!
