This is extraordinary moment a farmer cracked up a huge egg to find another hidden inside.
The egg the size of an adult hand was found at a family farm at Kairi, 82 kilometres south-west of Cairns, northern Queensland.
Stockman’s Eggs owner Scott Stockman told Daily Mail Australia their free range egg collector ‘Zippy’ made the mind-boggling discovery.
The huge chook egg weighed 176 grams, more than three times the size of an average egg.
The discovery became even more incredible when the farmers found a second ‘perfect’ egg inside the cracked shell of the huge egg.
‘It’s a complete freak of nature and very rare to see an egg inside of another,’ Mr Stockman told Daily Mail Australia.
‘We did gather the staff around when we cracked it but I was kind of hoping to see four yolks.’
With 3000 hens in the pen where the astonishing egg was discovered, it will make pinpointing the chicken responsible impossible.
Mr Stockman said Zippy had been collecting eggs for years and had never seen an egg that big.
The family farm has had eggs weighing 140 grams in the past but none had been as big as the mammoth egg found earlier this week.
‘The hens are really well cared for and have a great diet,’ Mr Stockman said.
‘But at the end of the day it’s just a complete freak of nature that it came out that way.’
