This is the heartbreaking moment a young dog desperately tries to pull his companion out of a road after it was hit by a car.
Displaying what appear to be human-like emotions, the devastated hound is filmed pawing and nudging his friend.
It was snapped by taxi driver Serrano Madera, 42, when he was driving through Mexico City.
He said: “I saw a dog run in front of the car coming the other way closely followed by second dog, and it was the second dog that was struck by the car.
“The driver didn’t stop, he just carried on, but I did stop because the first dog ran back in front of me and started nudging the dead one in the street.
“I didn’t drive off straight-away because I was not sure if the dog was going to run in front of me again, and then was fascinated by the dog trying to wake up it’s clearly dead companion.”
The video footage shot on Madera’s mobile phone shows the live animal nudging the dead dog, and then using its front legs to try and pull it out of the way of the traffic and safely on side of the road.
