A distressed tiny puppy is saved from drowning with a helping paw from its mum in this amazing footage.
The golden retriever spots her little one struggling to stay afloat in a back garden pool and dives in to the rescue.
The plucky pooch jumps into the water and uses her nose to nudge the baby to safety as it desperately tries to wriggle out of the pool.
When her attempts fail, the mother dog climbs out and grabs the foundering youngster out by the scruff, dragging it to safety.
The puppy then appears to get a stern telling off as the older dog refuses to let go, pulling the baby around to teach it a lesson.
While many users have been charmed by the adorable dogs, others questioned why the cameraman did nothing to help.
One angry viewer commented: “how really disgusting of the owners to put the pup in the pool and clearly saw the mother and baby struggling to get out.
“whether they can swim or not the mother dog clearly looked like she needed help. disgusting and appaling, all this for their 15 minutes of fame!
“the dogs should be re-homed to a family who cares more about their welfare than making money.”
But others defending the owner’s actions, suggesting the puppy may have been being trained.
Another user wrote: “This is how we trained our K-9 German Shepherds to swim and rescue.
“We would toss them into the pool or ocean and let them figure it out. Dogs are tough and they can handle a little water now and then.”
